The famous Soweto Towers near Orlando have been given a fresh coat of paint and a new look to celebrate the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

The cooling towers were originally painted by FNB in 2003, and the bank has again embarked on a process of ensuring that the landmark is ready to be viewed by the thousands of visitors that have been flocking to the City of Johannesburg since the beginning of June. 

While one of the towers that was originally painted with a colourful mural has remained the same, FNB has tried to capture the essence of football in the other tower.  Some of the visuals captured by the artists include makarapas, kuduzelas, soccer balls and football fans.

Seven qualified artists and three assistants started work at the end of February and spent 60 days working on the tower with 3500 litres of paint. FNB is an official National Supporter of the 2010 FIFA World Cup
